He stood on the edge of his fields and smiled. The crops stretched farther than his eyes could see, golden and heavy with promise. His barns groaned under the weight of last season’s harvest, their doors barely holding against the pressure of abundance. His wealth had outgrown his storage, and with it, his sense of security had begun to swell.
He thought to himself, what shall I do? My barns are too small. My success too great. My increase too much for these old walls to contain.
And then the idea took root, bold and certain. I will tear down these barns. I will build bigger ones. Stronger ones. Taller ones. I will gather all I have, hoard it safely within these new walls, and then I will say to my soul — soul, you have done well. You have plenty stored up for years to come. Rest. Eat. Drink. Be merry.
He saw the future clearly. Bigger barns. Bigger reputation. Bigger influence. A life insulated by accumulation.
